Banana porridge

I found this recipe in India but it's not really an Indian recipe. It's a popular guest-house breakfast in touristy areas but I think porridge was around before the tourists. It was probably popular during the Raj too.

This is a very simple breakfast recipe which is easy to make when you're half asleep (I've tried it). It's full of energy and keeps you going for the rest of the day. The quantities here will make enough for four people.

Ingredients

4 mugs of cold water
1 mug of milk
Half a teaspoon of salt
3 dessertspoons of sugar
1 and a half mugs of porridge oats
4 bananas

Put the milk, water, salt and sugar in a pot and bring it to the boil. Add the oats and stir. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring gently. Put the porridge in bowls and chop a banana into each one. Nothing could be simpler. Well...cornflakes maybe.
