This was a breif visit of about three weeks. We only went to a few places - Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang - all on the Laos tourist circuit. It was an enjoyable trip and here are a few photos of some of the things we saw. There's a lot of good things in Laos, but I have to say Beer Lao is one of the best... so to start here's a pic of Sveta enjoying a cold one.
And here are a few shots from Vang Vieng.... there are some great limestone karst formations on the other side of the river from the town and there are good opportunities for doing some walking in the countryside. You can see a rambling Macbean in the picture below right.
Laos is a Buddhist country and there are Buddha statues everywhere. These ones are on Pou Si Hill in Luang Prabang. The Wats below are all in Luang Prabang, too. The Lao style is very distinctive.
The pictures above are of the Mekhong River as it passes Luang Prabang. There are some very shoogly bridges on the river and you can see a couple on the left and right below (the one in the middle is an equally shoogly bridge which crosses the river in Vang Vieng).
The pictures bellow are of various foodstuffs drying in the backstreets of Luang Prabang. The first is rice cakes, followed by mekhong river weed and then some other kind of cereal cake. I'm not sure what they were made of but they looked a bit like poppadoms.
And here are some Mekhong sunset pictures to finish off....
