A quiet pint

- A pint of Raith Premier please and…. What kind of sandwiches have you got?

- There's chicken salad, ham salad…

- Have you got anything without meat? I'm vegetarian.

- Cheese?

- Yeah, okay. And a cheese sandwich too.

- There ye are.

- Thanks.

- So… a vegetarian, eh? And you drink beer?

- Well, yes. I like it. What's wrong with that?

- Naw, it's just.. Ye know. ..vegetarians. ..Ur ye no intae Harry Krishna an' aw that kinda stuff?

- No. I'm just a vegetarian.

- Ye know, Ah had this dream the other night. There was this cucumber, right? An' you could peel it, but inside there was a banana. And there was this tomato and you could peel it as well, and inside it there was an orange or a tangerine or somethin'. What do you think o' that?

- Sounds like an interesting dream.

- Aye, but does it no mean anythin'?

- I don't know. I mean, I don't know about that kind of thing.

- Naw, it's just... Ah just thought...ye know…wi' you being a vegetarian an' that.

- No. Sorry. I don't know.

- Yer no much good fur a bloody vegetarian, ur ye?

- Sorry.
