Somebody went into a bar. The bar was anywhere. All the usual guys were there - sunshine, rain, stars, strawberry, flowers, even storm. Nobody was anywhere else, drinking on their own. Anybody could be nobody. It depended where they were. But when anybody was here they were somebody.
Sunshine gave somebody a big smile. He was so happy. It could have been anybody who received the smile but this time she smiled at somebody because he was special. Special today, that is. But that's always good enough for somebody.
He spoke to anybody. He knew that was because he was getting a little bit drunk, but he also knew that if anybody was getting drunk too, they would listen to somebody with interest, no matter what they were saying.
'Do you come here often?' he asked.
'Where's here?'
'Here's here, of course.' he replied.
'Of course. How right you are.' she said. 'How could I have been mistaken? In that case, I'm always here.'
'But never there?' he sighed, wistfully.
Of course not.' she teased. 'How could I be there if I'm here. Aren't these mutually exclusive concepts? Now tell me who you are.'
'I'm not sure' he said, experiencing a small dark sting of doubt. 'I suppose I could be anybody.'
'Well, everybody's here. Nobody's somewhere else. You must be somebody.'
To be continued sometime...
